I hear the drums echo in the night ~ Toto: Africa

Africa is big and offers many safari destinations. Where do we begin? Well, in short, two regions lead the way. One is the southern region which comprises South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. Think Kruger, the Okavango Delta, Etosha, Victoria Falls and up-and-coming Luangwa. Malawi with its superb lake is the quiet safari secret.
The second major region is to the east, where well-known Masai Mara and Serengeti are the wilderness crown jewels of Kenya and Tanzania, and Rwanda offers its own unique gorilla treks. There is more, of course ~ this is but the briefest overview to give you a taste of the options.
Your safari, your way
Kruger National Park, South Africa
Experience: great wildlife, very close up.
Added value: outstanding wildlife viewing all year round. Kruger is serious lion country, and there’s the extra thrill of being in an open-sided vehicle with your expert game ranger and tracker. Sit back, keep your eyes open, enjoy the sounds, smells, surprising sights of Africa, up close and very personal. Safari lodges here are modern and comfortable, and the private reserves within greater Kruger are very easy to get to. Outstanding value for money, too. A bit more …
Okavango Delta, Botswana
Experience: an ecological jewel with stunning wildlife.
Added value: remote, a rare experience of a vast shallow-water delta in the heart of a desert. Exquisitely pristine, it offers the quietest game viewing, mostly water-based from dug-out canoes, but also with vehicle viewing at some lodges. It costs a bit more but you’re paying for the untouched wild, here. A bit more …
Chobe National Park, Botswana
Experience: abundant elephant herds and spectacular waterfall.
Added value: large elephant herds, a joy to observe in their group interactions from close up. They are attracted to the Chobe River to drink, so game viewing is a combination of water-based and land-based experiences. Another plus is that it is close to the spectacular Victoria Falls and easily accessible by scheduled flights. A bit more …
Luangwa Valley, Zambia
Experience: unspoiled Africa distilled to its purest essence.
Added value: a remote, untouched explorer’s paradise, highly regarded for the walking safari experience. You get very close to Africa by touching, hearing and feeling it. It teems with wildlife and is still very uncommercialised. Top game drive viewing of wildlife and water viewing as well. Access is improving year on year. A bit more …
The Serengeti & Masai Mara, Tanzania & Kenya
Experience: epic, ancient force of nature.
Added value: long, shimmering vistas of stunning landscapes that speak of quintessential Africa. For front row seats to the last remaining great natural migration on earth, you come to this region, the original home of the safari. Expect a big canvas revealing a spectacular natural phenomenon that is uncommon in our age of dwindling wild areas. Don’t skimp on accommodation; go up. Worth it. A bit more …
Etosha, Namibia
Experience: all the wildlife, all in your own time.
Added value: a large, remote desert setting, bigger than Kruger, so as a result the wildlife is concentrated around specific waterholes, called pans. The pans obviously attract the best game viewing. Self-drive is the usual method of getting there. It is more comfortable, temperature-wise, in our winter months. A bit more …
Zimbabwe
Experience: some of the best safari guides in Africa.
Added value: a largely untouched by time, undeveloped country in the main, which, as a result, offers great authenticity and a strong sense of true wilderness. This is home to all the iconic wild animals we know and love, and not only that, some of the finest game rangers in Africa have trained and worked here. In addition, it is home to the remarkable Victoria Falls. A bit more …

Some kind words on our service
“It is sometimes frightening to know who to trust when planning such a large trip via Internet. Each step of the way, though, everything was done exactly when she said it would be and how she said it would be. Wonderful experience and cannot say enough about how responsive and caring Marianne is.”
“This was our first safari experience, but–as former airline employees–my wife and I are experienced travelers, including destinations in the Far East, South America, the Caribbean (lots!), Russia, and Europe (30+). Marianne gave us excellent advice with respect to when to travel, what to bring, where to stay, and what to see.”
“I cannot use enough superlatives to describe the perfection of our mother/daughter trip Marianne designed for us! She thought of every detail ensuring both our comfort and safety.”
